Fast and Easy Lemon Garlic Pasta

1 pound (450g) ground beef 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 onion, finely chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 carrot, grated 1 celery stalk, finely chopped 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes 2 tablespoons tomato paste 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1 teaspoon dried basil 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Ingredients

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until softened, around 3-4 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Incorporate the ground beef into the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked through.

Stir in the grated carrot and finely chopped celery. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, red pepper flakes (if desired), salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.

Pour in the red wine (if using) and beef or vegetable broth. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.

While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
