Our Favorite Homemade Hummus Recipe

1 can (15 ounces) chickpeas, drained and rinsed 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (approximately 1 large lemon) 1/4 cup well-stirred tahini 1 small garlic clove, minced 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus extra for serving 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin Salt, to taste 2 to 3 tablespoons water

Ingredients

Begin by combining tahini and lemon juice in a food processor.

Add olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, and a pinch of salt to the tahini and lemon juice mixture.

Drain and rinse the chickpeas under cold water. Add half of the chickpeas to the food processor and process for 1 minute.

Adjust the consistency by adding 2 to 3 tablespoons of water, one tablespoon at a time, if the hummus is too thick.

Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning with additional salt if required.

Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with a bit of olive oil, and sprinkle with paprika and chopped fresh parsley if desired.

Serve the homemade hummus with pita bread, vegetable sticks, or crackers. Enjoy your delicious and freshly made hummus!
